What to do when the instructor tell you to "pull over / parking emergency" on the day of your road test?
When we are running isntructor ask us to pull over in an emergency parking area on the right side of the road, we must: 1 Put the gear on Nutral position or the parking position? 2. Should we turn off the engine, or keep it on? 3. Shall we take off the key from the key hole or leave it in there? When isntructor ask us to park (front / reverse / Parallel), we have 1st Park then take away car keys from the key hole after setting the parking break? Let me know, I have a road test on September 14 and I have taken lessons, but I just want to ensure that these mandatory things. (I am a very good and reliable driver) Note I am an Ontario Resident and you respond in accordance with Ontario driving by-law.
When an emergency stop on a highway with paved shoulders, signal first and then steer into the shoulder at or near the speed of traffic. Then slow down. When control of an unpaved shoulder, signal, slow down and then to steer to the shoulder. In dusk, darkness and bad weather, turn vehicle `s parking lights or hazard lights (emergency lighting) once on the shoulder of the road. Do not block the vehicle `s rear lights at night by standing or working behind the vehicle. Day or night, put candles or other heating device at least 300 feet back (about 120 steps). Raise the hood. Tying a white handkerchief to the antenna or left door to signal for help.
