Wide grip bench press: Should I lower the bar to my chest?
After several years of lowering it to his chest, I was interrupted by a certified personal trainer "CPT" and said that it was bad to do this. I've never felt like I was hurting myself and after switching to only go down 90 degrees at this exercise, I am not even work somewhat. Although I really load up to 80% of my max, I still do not feel bad or really tired, when I'm done.
hello! I can speak from my experience with weight training since 7 class (thrower in Track & Field), I'm 26 now, and my brother has been a professional body builder for about 15 years. Honestly, there are not many good reasons for bench pressing. I've always used it as a means to chest stretch out before or after a work out. why, b / c it can cause long term damage to your shoulders. I should know b / ci used to use the bench as a power lift (low weight for a pop-up lift) exercise at my track coach and my shoulders have never been the same. If you are looking for strength and cut into his chest, so I would recommend using dumbbells. This way, you'll work more on controlling your movements and isolating those working muscles. I can assure you that if you start to use dumbbells to your presses, you will have more control over your muscle groups and you will feel muscle fatigue, which is soooo addicting:) also, with dumbbells, you can get more variety to your movements and you can easily move from one slope to a fixed pressure and even lower the dumbbells to a great stretches across the chest. as for my brother takes on benching .... yes, he primarily uses dumbbells when you work out .... imagine a 265 pound 6'4 "guy with a little body fat. he is a true power house. when people ask him how much he benches, yes, he kind of laughs and tells them that he did not bench anymore. he does not become the involvement of other bodybuilders unless they ask his opinion. take care and I wish you good health!
